History of the School
The school was started with 2 students and one teacher on June 10, 1982, in Nethaji Road, Srirangam, on a rent-free site.
Founder Principal: Ms. Geetha Parthasarthy.
As the student strength grew, the school was located in 3 different places:
- K.G. Classes: Ammamandapam Road.
- Primary Classes: 13-A, Nethaji Road.
- High School Classes: 6-B, Nethaji Road.
In 1992, the school moved to its present location at Aruna Nagar as a single unit. The school, situated in Srirangam, is run by the benevolent Managing Trustees of the Trichy Chinmaya Seva Trust.
The school aims to serve members of all strata of the community and help them achieve high standards of excellence. It prepares students for the Tamil Nadu Government's matriculation board examination, with instructions provided through English Medium.
Special Features:
- Science Practical, Inter-Group Programmes, and Club Activities are arranged on Saturdays, and attendance for these sessions is mandatory.
- Saturdays are book-free days. A four-pronged approach to child development through CVP is sincerely planned and executed, focusing on Integrated Development, Patriotism, Indian Culture, and Universal Outlook.
- School-oriented clubs include Literary Club, Culture Club, Fine Arts, and Science Club.
- Service Clubs in operation include Karuna Club, EXNORA, Green Brigade, Chinmaya Service Centre, with activities planned and conducted throughout the year.
- Additional activities such as Scouts and Guides, Red Ribbon Club, and Junior Red Cross are open to interested students.
- All fees are processed through banks.
- Summer camps are conducted for all students.
- Sports activities receive equal importance, with regular inter-school and intra-school competitions.
- Science exhibitions, club exhibitions, and book exhibitions are organized at least once a year.
- Smart classes are introduced for enhanced observation and listening.
- Streamlined labs for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are constructed.
- Teaching aid exhibitions are conducted for faculty during refresher courses.
- Hobby classes have been converted into certificate courses, recognizing skills in various activities such as Silambam, Karate, Music, Dance, Robotics, Veena, Violin, Yoga, Mridangam, and Keyboard for classes VI to VIII.
- National Cadet Corps (NCC) was introduced in the academic year 2022-2023.
- Chinmayukh, an inter-school competition, is organized annually by alumni students.
- The playground has been extended.
- The school syllabus transitioned from Matric to Samacheer syllabus in 2010.
- The school’s strength has increased gradually over the years.
- Objective tests are conducted using secure remote and screen technology to expedite assessment.
- Kindergarten infrastructure has been updated.
- LEAD curriculum was introduced for primary classes.
- Hindi is a compulsory subject for primary classes, and Sanskrit is compulsory from classes VI to IX.
- Special subjects include General Knowledge, Value Education, Sloka, and Computer Science.
- Yoga training is integrated into Physical Education classes.
- Special coaching classes are arranged for late bloomers with a specified timetable.
- Canteen facilities (snacks) are provided for students in classes X, XI, and XII.
- Students are given eloquent opportunities during assembly for activities such as news reading, Kathamala, thoughts for reflection, and reciting Thirukkural with meaning.
- A counselor is appointed to resolve issues for students and teachers, and life skill classes are organized.
- In 2020, IECD syllabus was introduced in Computer Science for classes VI to IX, and Smart Techies @ aram edutech syllabus for I to IV.
- Bharathidasan University issues professional course certificates to students from classes V to IX.
- STEM LAB was introduced in the co-curriculum in 2021, with students achieving state-level first place in a Robotics competition.
- In 2023, two students were selected to visit Sriharikota through Propeller Technologies.
- Sanskrit exams and exhibitions have been conducted.
